Walking-with Amsterdam WARP conference, Amsterdam

From 29 – 30 Sept, CONA’s project manager Damjana Golob Lavrič will be attending this year’s Walking-with Amsterdam WARP conference in Amsterdam.
WARP aims to stimulate a rich transdisciplinary dialogue about how, why, when, and with what results, walking practices are being explored and engaged with in the social sciences, humanities, and the arts.
Vienna Acousmonium

On the 28 Sept, CONA’s co-founder Brane ZORMAN will be meeting our partners at the Vienna Acousmonium.
The Acousmatic Project is a fascinating journey in the realm of developing a multichannel sound systems, that began in 2010. The analysis of acousmatic oeuvres conceived music-space oriented ideas that were looking for an instrument to be realised with the aim to spatialise ephemeral dynamic-motion sound sculptures.

In August 2022, Cona set up a second open mic at the Goričko Nature Park, at the edge of a forest in a private garden. The installation is part of a larger, international project within the Acoustic Commons network.The Goričko listening point makes part of the open microphone network in Europe and Japan within the Creative Europe Acoustic Commons project. Acoustic Commons partners include Locus Sonus (Aix-Marseille), Full of Noises (Barrow-in-Furness), Hellenic Mediterranean University (Crete), Cyberforest (Tokyo), and Soundcamp (London).

Performative soundwalk vrtPionirk explores gardens past and present and, in particular, our relation to plants in the urban environment. Artists use the garden on the route as a metaphor, looking for parallels between the Garden of Eden and the political garden. The work deals with a scenario of spatiality development concerning plants and the community’s relation to the planetary ecosystem. It spotlights the movement and journeys of plants, comparing them to those of society and colliding with the temporal discrepancy of the two worlds.

David Rothenberg, an established American clarinetist, jazz musician, composer and professor, has expanded and enriched his solo and improvisational career through artistic creation with other animal species. In the upcoming May evenings, when the leading musicians of the night of nature are nightingales, two unique sound events in the natural environment will take place as part of the Steklenik Gallery program. David Rothenberg will improvise live in the area of Iški Morost and Škocjanski zatok with nightingales and other birds living there. He will invite them to the interspecies improvisational session by listening intently and improvising on his clarinet. Due to his long-term collaboration with birds, Rothenberg understands their most subtle artistic impulses to sing.

Cona is participating at the Reveil streaming for the ninth year in a row. Brane Zorman will do the streaming from Molat island, Croatia on Sunday 1 May at 5.00am. For this year Reveil / SC9 festival we have prepared a part of a wider program. Invited artist Patrick K.-H., in partnership with Floating sound Gallery Vienna, has prepared a curated selection of sound art works which will be presented as part of the expanded program produced by CONA. Participating artists: Ksenia Bakhtina, Patrick K.-H., Secretwar and Victoria Morgunova. Their works will be broadcasted online on Saturday 30 April at 16:00 (CEST).
