Sežana Botanical Gardens
Sonic Ontology of negligence is the third sound work in a series of 4 selected works as part of a collaboration between the Steklenik gallery and the Sežana Botanical Gardens. The work is a continuous research evolving from listening to abandoned places and landscapes reshaped by extensive intervention of human presence and exploitation, and eventually “given over“ to Nature to reclaim the space.

CONA and Kino Šiška invite you to two transformative evenings of acousmatic music! Austrian musician, performer and acousmatic composer Thomas GORBACH returns to Ljubljana. He will be joined live by guest artists Andrej KOBAL, OR poiesis and tonota.
Irena PIVKA and Brane ZORMAN will take part in this year’s partner meeting of the VITAL project in Strasbourg, France, between February 12 and 16. There, together with the other partners of the project (ASSOCIATION APOLLONIA, OUT OF THE BOX ART COMPANY in Teatri ODA), they will outline this year’s implementation of the project and present its individual goals. As part of the VITAL project, CONA is developing an augmented sound walk.

In cooperation with the Botanical Garden of Sežana, we are continuing our set of sound installations with the work ICEmeltings by Jata C . Sounds that cut through the silence. Especially when, due to natural processes of sudden temperature changes, they thicken into cracked ice. This spectrum of the acoustics of the winter soundscape is put under the microscope by sound_and_artist_compositions.

The Steklenik Gallery in collaboration with Kino Šiška presents a series of four sound events and two installations under the joint title Parallel Soundscapes, which will take place between November 17 and 18, 2022, at Kino Šiška. The exhibitions Chronolith and Line | +1233m –1233m will be accessible from 17:00, and the sound events will start at 20:00 each day.

is hosting Steklenik gallery for a year
In cooperation with the Botanical Garden of Sežana, we are starting a set of sound installations, for which the opening score will be the sound work Spirit of the Trees | Touch by Brane ZORMAN. The presented sound work, which was also awarded the palma ars acustica award this year, is the first in a series of four sound installations that will be presented in the garden’s greenhouse until the end of August 2023 in the spirit of the four seasons.

The text is part of the European project Acoustic Commons and questions our relationship to location, its sound, and our contact with and making sense of what we hear.
The Acoustic Commons program coincided, quite by chance, with an unexpected change in the soundscape and the elimination of anthropogenic sound from the atmosphere. It was not silence, just a lack of noise. It had seemed impossible to stop the capitalist machinery; however, the human crowds, the rumble of planes, and other machines remarkably ceased.

From 5 – 9 Oct, Irena PIVKA and Brane ZORMAN, accompanied by artist Ida HIRŠENFELDER (beepblip), and together with our partners Full of Noise, Locus Sonus and Soundcamp, will participate in the completion of a three-year project, which included outstanding artists with whom we created sound and theoretical projects, lectures and workshops on the topic and under the common name of Acoustic Commons.
